Bl. John Alcober - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online Bl. John Alcober, Roman Catholic Dominican Martyr in China. Born in Gerona, Spain, he entered the Dominicans, being sent in 1728 to China as a missionary. Arrested in 1746 by Chinese officials, he was held in prison until strangled to death.
